Welcome!

Well, I think I finally got this blog thing up and running. No pictures yet, but those will come soon. :) Just wanted to send a hello out to everyone and let you know that things are going well so far. We will officially move into our new apartment tomorrow and I think we are both very excited to get into a more homey place than the hotel before the holidays. I think we are really going to enjoy the new apartment, other than the long commute for Ben. It was a great view though and is on an island with a smaller population than Hong Kong island and has lots of open land for hiking and exploring. Ben's new job is going well so far, but it is a bit of a challenge adapting his American business culture to Chinese standards. It's all part of the experience, right? We have enjoyed meeting some of his co-workers from a variety of other places around the world and look forward to getting to know them better.

Christmas here feels very different than back home. We've hardly had a chance to think about the holiday and yet it is already the 21st! There are large Christmas trees, Christmas music playing in the malls, and lights and on the down town buildings, but it feels more commercialized than really a holiday that people celebrate. After we get moved in this weekend we hope to spend a little time making Christmas cookies/candies and watching Christmas movies to get in a slightly more festive spirit.

Anyway, just wanted to say hello before the holidays and let you all know that we are thinking of you! Check the site for updates of our adventures and for some photos. I hope to post to it at least once a week as we are getting started here.

Love and holiday cheer to you all!

They have commercializaed Christmas more than us?? Perhaps it will seem more truly festive for the Chinese New Year.

Had game night at my place tonight. Played Pit and thought of Erin, who was already in Eugene. Wish you guys had all been here!

Happy baking :)
